AFCAT Selection Stages

The AFCAT selection process has three main stages, each designed to evaluate different skills:
Written Examination: Focuses on the key areas candidates need to know, like general knowledge, basic reasoning, numbers, and understanding words. This step shows if candidates are ready for the next stage.
AFSB Interview: Looks at mental sharpness, leadership, and decision-making.
Candidates are assessed on qualities needed to be a good officer.
Medical Examination: Ensures candidates meet physical fitness and medical standards required for officer duties.

Educational Eligibility for AFCAT

Flying Branch: Candidates should have a graduation degree with at least 60% marks, and 60% in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level.Ground Duty Technical Branch: A graduation degree with 60% marks or more is required.Ground Duty Non-Technical Branch: Graduation in subjects like Physics, Maths, Chemistry, IT, Management, or Psychology with at least 50% marks overall. Only candidates who meet these standards can apply for AFCAT and continue in the officer selection process.

Physical Fitness & Preparation Tips

When you get ready for AFCAT, fitness is as important as studying for the written exam. The Indian Air Force fitness standards check if you can handle the physical side of training and daily routine. Staying healthy and building stamina will make the training part less tough.

  • Running: Complete 4 km in 15 minutes to test stamina.

  • Push-ups and Sit-ups: Minimum 20 repetitions each to check upper body and core strength.

  • Chin-ups: At least 8 repetitions to measure arm and back strength.

  • Rope Climbing: Climb 3 to 4 meters to show strength and control.

  • Swimming: Cover 25 meters to prove water fitness.

General Fitness Tips: Stay regular with simple workouts, balance your diet, and avoid overtraining before tests.
